When I was last at the farm, mum was gathering a number of the lambs from spring to count them. Naturally it made me want to get into the pen and capture a perspective I’ve never seen before.
If you caught the latest podcast episode, mum was talking about selling a number of her lambs from this Spring as “stores”.
Selling as stores means selling the lambs before they’re quite ready for market –– to be further fattened at another farm. That way mum doesn’t take on the cost and work involved in looking after so many animals during (what could be a hard) winter.
